Generic Soldier with bad UVs or something

I don't have much to say about that one so treat that more as an illustrated book or something.

I couldn't decide on what type of shirt I wanted to give him so I decided to draw them as it is much faster for me to do.
Later I did the same thing to decide on what type of armour I wanted him to wear and few details as comm set and earphones.

That's how the bare low poli model looks like.

As I mentioned in other post I gave him so complex shader that it crashes blender every 40 seconds so it's the final pic.
Lessons learned though. I mean it was only two and a half of month ago and I already know how to fix all of mistakes I made.

I still have 2 other models that I have to post and I'm currently working on the third one, so you can expect not-so-dry-as-always month.

This one's old

That one I did 2 months ago. Simply forgot to include him in the latest post.

It was kind of important for me though. The main reason is I learned a lot about correct topology.
It doesn't mean that I became good at it at that point - just a little bit more aware of what it should look like.

If you check the name of picture you'll see that it's "Woman_face_2_DX_RX".
D is from Day, R is from Render. Every day has different render count.

The funny thing is that I was painting and sculpting only females and this one started as one as well.
I remember that I left the naming convention as it was because I wanted to make some point about that...I don't remember what point tho' - Sorry.

I've changed her face lil' bit and that's what came out.

Refined it further,

and further,

and further.

Then I retopologized him,

and applied a normal map baked from that high-res mesh.

It didn't look good so I retopologized it once again from a scratch, baked another normal map and it was even worse...

So I repeated that few more times and that's how it came out at the end.
I made few mistakes and the biggest are:
-bad topology (with too many poles in places they shouldn't be) which was creating those triangular darker artefacts;
-baking the normal map with too low tolerance (it's called ray distance), which was creating some of those artefacts;
-applying normal map in a wrong way, which wasn't showing correct "fake" geometry distortion and details.

I've learned a lot since then.
I'll post some more recent stuff later.

Old Stuff 6

Hi again,

That's the second part of my post related to faces I've drawn in 2015.
The first part of 2015's you can find HERE.

So lets get started.
That guy I like. Really. I was in such a good mood when I was drawing that I don't even...
I was even more happy 'cause I was drawing all of that from imagination, but it didn't last for long...

Few days later I was again like that...

Or that...

Or that... Basically I can draw shit. I really can. The sad think is I have to be in a "zone". And that's why I want to more consistent.

That's the September 24th.
When It comes to painting - I've no traditional background beside my "kindergarten career" so most of the times I've no Idea what I'm doing.

And that's the 9th of November.
I'm sorry for "how to draw an owl tutorial" syndrome, but I've got just few layers that I saved.
It's still better than nothing, isn't it?

And these are "master studies" I did after watching Ahmed Aldoori YT video.
I just took all the measurements and painted it in my "own way" so I don't know if the "master studies" term is quite correct.

Any ways - lady on the right side of the canvas was "highly influenced :D" by THAT VERY VIDEO
I couldn't find that image on HIS DeviantArt, so I'm posting direct link to his YT to let you know it's not mine idea.

The lady on the left was painted in the same manner, but the one who painted the original piece is Charlie Bowater. I love her rough sketches and anatomy study drawings.
You can find HER DeviantArt profile here, or click here to see the original artwork.

Sorry for the long post.
